Dear students,

Please see this project opportunity at Novartis for MSc Drug Sciences students.

Title: Assessment of genotoxicity of cell- and gene therapy products
Supervisor: Dr. Silvana Libertini, Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research, Basel (contact address, see below)

Abstract
Our lab is working on new methods to assess the genotoxicity associated with the use of cell and gene therapy products. We are currently optimizing a modified version of a miniaturized soft agar assay for CRISPR/Cas9 edited or AAV transduced cells. We are also working on the identification by RT-qPCR of markers of iPSCs contamination in iPSCs derived tissues. Experience in one or more technologies described below is desired: cell culture (cell lines, iPSCs, primary cells), CRISPR/Cas9 editing, viral transduction, soft agar, DNA & RNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, RT-qPCR, ddPCR, FACS. Training for the required technologies will be offered, as well as a dynamic scientifically stimulating environment. The ideal candidate should be available from May 2021 for a minimum period of 6 months (extendable).
